Promotion - TVFM March Market

Good Morning,

I am out of stuff to talk about this week.  So in lieu of a real topic, let's take a look at the Treasure Valley Flea Market.

I have not attended the show since November of 2012, as a vendor, nor have I returned as a shopper, but sometimes life is a four letter word that gets in the way of what you would like to do.

This weekend is, once again, The Treasure Valley Flea Market, hosted by Spectra Productions, and held at Expo Idaho, on Glenwood at Hawk's Stadium.

There are vendors of all kinds, Crafts, Garage Goodies, Nick-Knacks and local businesses from Cell Phone Accessories to Home-baked Doggie Treats.

Stop by and have a look see.

5610 Chinden Blvd.
Garden City, ID
Admission is $2.00 at the door.

Thank you for stopping in and having a look.

The Alchemists Vessel would like to wish you a pleasant day.

Weekend Art Shows Review

Good Morning,

Happy Monday to you all.

This weekend I attended two shows.  The Flea Market, at which I am usually a vendor, held nothing new, but it was fun and enjoyable experience being on the other side of the booth.  Missing the Saturday crowd for a Sunday morning, it was a pleasant couple of hours perusing the aisles.  The vendors are friendly, much of the stuff for sale is still the Knickknacks and garage-box-clutter of stuff you usually see on the tables.

I also attended Art in the Bar.  Held at the Knitting Facorty Concert House in beautiful downtown Boise, Idaho, and presented by Dead Bird Local Art's Framing, Boise Weekly and featuring the artists of Green Chutes Artists Co-Op.

It was a nice afternoon.  Stopping by after the Flea Market, the Knitting Factory itself is fairly small, or perhaps I should say "intimate" venue.  The event was free and opened to all ages.  The bar was available to those of age, but I was not interested in partaking.

Although many of the artists were fascinating, the air and attitude of some in attendance was a complete turn off to the work.  There were some that were more than willing to chat, but felt it was necessary to bash the person in the space / exhibit next to them.  Maybe beer later eased some of the tension.

It was a successful event and one that I would like to see continue.  Well done, nicely laid out in the small and split level venue, it was a terrific way to spend a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon.

Thank you for stopping by and having a read.

The Alchemists Vessel would like to wish you a pleasant day.

Links, Promotions, Friday Post 250

Happy Friday,

Welcome to the 250th post of blog.  Lack-luster, I know.  It is a balmy four (4) degrees outside and the snow is piled up against the back door with promises of snowing me in today.  The garage door has frozen shut and is stuck to the driveway,  I kid you not.  As soon as the sun rises here, it's time to haul out the pick and un-stick it!  That is a first for this California Grrl.  (I spelled it right).

This morning I am out of links and promotions, so gentle reminders are in order.

If you are brave enough to venture out into the below freezing temperatures and the icy roads you can visit the:

Treasure Valley Flea Market
*Expo Idaho
5610 Chinden Blvd.
Boise, ID
Saturday Jan 12, 9 - 6
Sunday Jan 13, 10 - 4
Admission is $2.00 at the door.

*Formerly the Western Idaho Fairgrounds.

The Alchemists Vessel will not be in attendance this month, but you can look for us at the Market in February.

Things are gearing up for 2013 here at T.A.V.  I am in possession of and almost finished with the final module for class, and am well on the way to having the e-book blog ready for inspection (or reading), as well as opening a second shop for the hand-forged items I am making and accumulating.

Thank you for stopping in and having a look.

The Alchemists Vessel would like to wish you a pleasant weekend.

What?  No photos?  Man...

Links, Promotions, Flea Market and Sale

Good Morning,

Today's blog is super short because I have to pack and prepare for set-up at the Market today.

The Treasure Valley Flea Market is this weekend, and unless you live under a rock, you are aware that it is also the last Market of the 2012, and the last one before the Holidays start in earnest.

Can't make the Market?  You can always find us on the web.

The Alchemists Vessel on handmadeartists.com
The Alchemists Vessel official Website

I know Etsy is very popular, however with all that is going on with the site, I am debating shutting down the shop.  There are several factors and a final decision has not been made, but I encourage you to see what handmadeartists.com has to offer, and not just my shop.  There are a lot of talented and fabulous artists, and everything is hand made.  Paintings, Hand-bound Books, Sculpture, Mosaics, Fabric Craft (Knitting, Crochet, etc), the list goes on.  Buyer accounts are always free, and a unique gift is better than mass-produced crap from China.

SALE:  In light of that there is a sale on at The Alchemists Vessel on Etsy.  Many of the prices in the shop have been reduced and when you enter the coupon code: HOLIDAY10 at check out, you will receive an additional 10% off your total purchase.

Thank you for stopping in and having a look.

New In The Studio - Time and a Bottle

Good Morning.

Wednesday is here and the last Market of the season is this weekend and the studio is in full swing as we prepare for the show.

Previews are always good.   New in the studio are watches.  Stainless Steel faces with a serpentine design have beaded chainmaille bands in a variety of colors.

Precious Time

Vespers

Also new in the studio are these charming little Charm Bottles.  These have been a staple of jewelry and decoration for I don't know how long.  I had one a young girl and couldn't resist the urge to make some of my own.  Sold individually, these are suspended from a Silver tone (white metal) or Anodized Chain in the popular Gunmetal tone.  Each bottle is filled with genuine gemstone chips (some times drilled for beading) and the cork stopper is glued shut, eye pins are screwed into the cork and also glued in place.

Right to Left:  Aquamarine, Purple Fluorite, Red Agate, Green Fluorite, Rose Quartz and Amethyst.  These are small, measuring around 1/2" in height.

The Treasure Valley Flea Market is this weekend and the last one of the Season for 2012.  Come on down and say Hello, do a little Holiday Shopping early, the vendors should have their booths up to the Nines with goodies and fabulous finds!

WHERE:
Expo Idaho at The Fairgrounds

WHEN
Saturday Nov. 10th, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Friday Random Links and a Promotion or Two

Good Morning,

Friday is here and the weekend is sneaking up on me.

Once in a while I come across something that looks interesting or useful, and since most of us have a limited or extremely tight budget these days free stuff is always good.

Wix is a free on-line web site builder.  They also offer "Premium" accounts that I would guess are very expensive as there are no fees listed anywhere.  Free sites may include "Wix ads".

Example site: Brooklyn Bead Goddess

Yolasite is also a free website builder, they offer domains, and other services as well, have a pricing guide and have a 1-800 customer service / help line and claim Free Sites are also Ad-free.  Check out other offerings on the Features page.

Example site: Studio RGC  - Ralph's Wax

Next weekend is the Treasure Valley Flea Market, and the last one of 2012. The Alchemists Vessel will be in attendance.  More about the Market will be posted next week.  Come on down and get some Holiday shopping done or just look around for fun.  Admission is $2.00.

As many of us here out West have been watching the news, and the devastation that has taken place along the East Coast there are some things that you can do to help.

Red Cross - Hurricane Sandy Donations

You can donate $10.00 with your phone, you can donate via iTunes (which is weird), and you can find out what's going on in your local area for the Disaster Relief.  You can donate to a general fund (a much better idea), or earmark the donation for Hurricane Sandy or give blood at one of you local banks as the Red Cross is sorely in need.

You may also want to check out your local charities, and see if they are not taking, clothes, blankets, toys, household items for those in need and affected by Hurricane Sandy.
Good Will - Store / Donation Station locator
St. Vicent DePaul's
Salvation Army - donation page, there are links at the bottom for other ways to help.

AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!

Dear Customers and Flea Market Attendees,

After much pondering, evaluation, and tough decisions it is time to adapt new ideas, modify the Shop, and fill out the inventory.  Changes within the Treasure Valley Flea Market, and the fact that I seem to have reached my sales audience, has lead me to adapt several more alterations, I will be appearing at the listed show dates, and that is all.  I will be seeking a new permanent venue whether through a Consignment Shop or other Brick and Mortor Shopping location around the Treasure Valley and Boise area.  I will continue to be an active member in the other Fairs and venues, time permitting.  This is not an easy decision or one I make lightly.  You can still find us on the web to shop, and available by phone for Customer Service, Custom Orders or General Questions.  Business Phone Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday - Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday.

Monday Shop News

Good Morning,

Monday has arrived, and it is time to begin the work week once again!  This morning's blog is short as I spent the weekend at the local Flea Market.

Because Art in the Park and several other events were all happening this weekend, people's time and attention was divided, we enjoyed an intimate setting and a nice flow of customers.

Next months market is October 6th and 7th, we will have Halloween themed jewelry on sale for one show only and in the web stores through the month.

For those of you that shop with us on line, you may have noticed some changes to Etsy.  The activity feed will now look different.  As these changes are being rolled out slowly not every one may be able to see them immediately.

Shops and favorite items are grouped into boxes of four, Treasuries are also listed in this fashion now.  Single item photos are much larger.  The Feed has been divided in to two pages, Following and Your Shop.   The Following page allows you to see the people in your circles (now "Followers") and their activity.  If you have a sellers account and want to see what's going on with your shop items, you will find it under the "Your Shop" Tab, individual items will be listed with the ID of the person that clicked the item.

Now it's back to the workbench to clean and polish and prepare and pack for next months market.

Thank you for stopping in and having a read.

The Alchemists Vessel would like to wish you a pleasant day.

Studio Switch - Market Season Begins

Good Morning!

Wednesday arrives bright and beautiful, some of the smoke from the northern and surrounding area wild fires has been blown out of the valley.  Clear and haze-free sunny skies is the order of the day.

There is not much happening in the studio this week, except there are beads and bits of metal everywhere, as we fill out the racks, take inventory, clean, pack, prepare, and check the list at least three times to be sure all is ready for the Season Opener of Treasure Valley Flea Market.  (No, I'm not going to post the commercial.)

Yes, indeed!  It's that time again.  More than just a Flea Market, there are artisans from all over the Treasure Valley area, antiques, collectables, glass-works, wood-works, and of course, garage goodies of all kinds can be found.  Personally I wish they wouldn't call it a "Flea Market", there is so much more, I think the "Treasure Valley Market or Bazaar" would be a better descriptive title.

Now that I have your undivided attention.

Can't attend this weekend?  That's OK, you'll miss out on free chocolate though.  The Market is open one weekend a month, the dates are below.  Put them on your calendar and come on down and say Hello!  Admission is $2.00 at the door.

Market Dates:
Sept 8-9, 2012 - This Weekend!
Oct 6-7, 2012 - Halloween Jewelry will be on sale!
Nov 10-11, 2012 - Christmas is coming!  Get that custom order in!
Jan 12-13, 2013 - I am not sure if T.A.V. will attend this market.
Feb 16-17, 2013 - We'll be there to whip the winter blues away
Mar 23-24, 2013 - Spruce up for Easter
Apr 13-14, 2013 - The Tax Man cometh!  Spend it, before he gets it!

Happy shoppers check out the goodies at the booth next door.

Monday Market Review List of Events

Good Morning,

It is Monday, and although I worked all weekend I hope you all had a wonderful and restful one.

The Market was a successful and as usual an enjoyable experience.  Talking to people, looking at what other exhibitors are selling, discussing the latest and local fashion trends with the younger crowd.  However; we did have some sad and wonderful news.  Sam Jones, who has run the Market for 24 years, retired this weekend.
She was greatly respected, admired, appreciated and loved by those who worked with her and got to enjoy her company during those Market weekends.  The Alchemists Vessel would like to wish her all the best in her great new adventures!  She will be greatly missed.

Table One:  A selection of Semi-precious Gemstone and Sterling Silver Earrings, Chain Maille, and Jewelry sets.

Almost out!  Time for another round of Semi-precious Gemstones and stretchy stuff!

Terrible Lighting, no wonder everything looks funny in there.
Table Two:  A selection of Semi-precious Gemstone and Sterling Silver Jewelry sets.

Since there is nothing new in the Shop as I was not in the Studio this weekend, I thought it might be fun to list a couple of up coming events.

Although this was the last market for the 2011-2012 season, the Markets begin again in September, 2012 and runs through April 2013.  Watch the blog for a complete list of show dates when the Vendor list has been provided to exhibitors.

The Alchemists Vessel will also be attending the July 14th and 15th Treasure Valley Flea Market in conjunction with the Northwest Motorfest Auto Show which rolls into town July 13-15th, 2012, click the link for this year's details.  Here are a couple of shots from last year taken from KTVB.com website.  (A local News Station).

Just what is this?

Guys riding motorcycles in round cages!  What more could you ask for?  An Auto show staple if ever there was one.

Thank you all for stopping by, we'll put up more details and information for both shows (running concurrently) when it is available.

Studio Time

Greetings,

This morning's post will be brief.

This afternoon I will be attending an introductory class at Jo-Ann's Fabrics as a sit-in, to watch the class, the instructor, and to see how things go with lesson plans and schedules.  I am kind of excited.

The studio is currently in state of disarray as I attempt to get prepared for the Flea Market this weekend, beads, wire, bits of stuff is everywhere and needs to be packed and put away.   We do have some new items on the table, so come on by and have a look.  We'll be at the Fair Grounds.

Enrolled in a Jewelry and Metal Arts Class, the first project is due soon and I am in need of materials to finish it up, shopping is also agenda.

Yes, all of that is wonderful, but what is going on in the studio?
Weaving Bracelets.
Making Earrings.
Re-doing the Etsy Shop
Paring down and reorganizing the sites and web presence.

Yes, always busy.

Thank you for stopping by, it is Wednesday, and the work week is almost done!

A Random Friday

The weekend is here and I don't think I have ever been so happy to see one!

Friday's are usually links and promotions, I have been busy with classes this week and haven't had time to look for much.  My plate is suddenly very full, which is a good thing.

I have been talking about starting to teach classes at Jo-Ann's.  Here is there website.  Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores.  From here you can find a store, look for a class, sign up for offers and even shop some of their items.  If you're a craft-person this is a neat site.  You can even buy a class for a friend as a gift.

Yesterday's blog discussed tools, a rotary or Dremel tool being the prominent tool.  Here are three links to the tool.

Dremel.com - Website Homepage.

Video Projects - What should I do with my Dremel?

Customer Creations Gallery - What other people did with their Dremel tool.  Some of the projects are amazing!

Like this Curly Maple Clock
A Hardwood Ark
 Or this Wooden Sign

Tools are pretty cool.

Next weekend is the last Treasure Valley Market of the season, and I will be attending.  We'll link the commercial and the event one more time next week.  I hope to see the locals there.

Wishing you all a fabulous weekend!  Rest.  Relax.  Rejuvenate!
