 Mechanix Genuine Hematite and Pyrite Necklace

 

Masculine and understated is this very muted color genuine Hematite and Pyrite necklace. Perfect for the Mechanic, Warrior or Musician in your life.

Genuine Hematite and Pyrite alternate around the 18" length of metal Tiger Tail beading wire. Finished with a Lobster Claw clasp.

Pyrite is a very protective stone, shielding the user from negative energy of all kinds. Pyrite blocks energy leaks and mends auric tears. Carry Pyrite in your pocket to protect you from both environmental pollution and physical danger. Pyrite also promotes good physical health and emotional well-being.

Hematite from the Greek "haema" meaning blood, due to the red color seen on the surface of the stone before cutting and polishing. Containing mainly iron, it is found in both crystalline and rough forms. Warriors carried this stone as they thought it made them invulnerable and indestructible.

Hit The Lights Genuine Jet and Camostone Bead Necklace

 

"Hit the lights!" The words every concert goer longs to hear, it means the show is starting! This masculine and handsome necklace would be perfect for the stage. Matte black Jet beads separate the unique type of Jasper called Camostone (it looks likes camouflage).

Jet is not actually a gemstone, but a "Stone" created of Fossilized Wood, sometimes called a "mineraloid", due to its organic origins.

Jasper is an impure variety of silica, usually ranging in color from reds and browns to greens.  Jasper has been thought of as a stone of protection.

18" total length. Genuine Jet and Camostone (Jasper) beads are laced on Tiger Tail beading wire and finished with a Lobster Claw clasp with extension chain.

Bass Solo Genuine Brecciated Jasper and Pyrite Necklace

Part of our Gems for Gents line of jewelry, this masculine and attractive necklace is very handsome, and would be appropriate for women as well, it hangs at 18" total length. A beautiful flat oval Brecciated Jasper Bead is centered and framed by oval shaped Pyrite, the intermittent pattern of Jasper and Pyrite continue around the length of the necklace.

Studio News: Supply Shop

Good Morning,

It has come to my attention that I have way too much stuff, and by stuff I mean supplies that I have purchased over the years and have found that I began, finished or stopped the project or that I never began at all, and I have supplies for all of them

In the interest of keeping things more organized I have opened a sister-shop to The Alchemists Vessel, Silent Moon Supplies, on The CraftStar.  The shop is slowly filling up with Sterling Silver Links and Findings, new commercial materials in their original packaging, Genuine Gemstone strands, and hand made items.

Currently there are 11 items in the shop, we will be adding more by the day and the week.  A sampling of what is available now.

Pantone Color of The Year for 2016

Good Morning,

This morning's post is brief, as we introduce Pantone's Color of the Year for 2016, there are two.

Basically they are pastel pink and blue.  Nice, but not very designer friendly, unless you design for children under five.


Although there is a gemstone Rose Quartz that can be found occurring naturally as a very soft pastel pink, it can also be dyed to a uniform deeper color.  The Alchemists Vessel carries a limited selection of Rose Quartz Jewelry.

This bracelet has sold, but as example of the very soft pink color of the natural stone.

Or you can always go with good old pink.

Precious Time Chainmaille Watch

Pastel Blue is a bit harder, about as close as the artist can get to it is Turquoise, or Blue Lace Agate, light blue Czech Glass beads in colors like "aqua" or "ice blue".

Bead It Forward Project 2015

Good Morning,

Today I would like to share a unique and interesting way to help a  cause.  Reading the Fire Mountain White Sale catalog I came across this fantastic and fun project.  The Article is very long and may be found in the printed catalog, which I cannot find on line.

Bead it Forward Quilt - this project started in 2006 and has continued each year, with a new theme, but the same goal to raise money and research Breast Cancer Research / Cure.

 This years project is focused on Animals - "Wild About Finding a Cure".

Artist Submitted Square

If you would like to participate / submitting a square, please visit the website (link below) for more details.  Squares are due March 06, 2015, and should measure, 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" or 3.8cm x 3.8cm.

Today's blog will be brief.  We have updated, closed, changed and rearranged some of our on line shopping venues.

The Alchemists Vessel on The CraftStar.  This site is free for buyers, and no sign up or membership is required.  We currently have 89 items in the shop and Alixandra is working diligently to create new and unique jewelry, specializing in Sterling Silver and Chainmaille designs.

2015 Color of The Year - Marsala

Good Morning,

Please allow me to wish one and all a very Happy New Year.

Today we take a look at Pantone Color of the Year for 2015.  Pantone 18-1438 - Marsala.

There are no gemstones that match or resemble this color.  About as close as I can come is Mahogany Obsidian.

The funny thing is that Pantone can't seem to get it to be the same color or tone all the time either.

This sample has more brown tones and is a deeper / richer example of the color.  But does not match the tone above.

The Make-Up chain store Sephora has even gotten into the act with their eye shadow and lipstick lines.

This does not make for an attractive color, the poor model looks rather wounded.

However it does a make for interesting furniture accessories or an article of clothing.

All I can say is, "Good luck with that."  The Fashion Powers that be and others seem to extol the new as wonderful, anything new, it doesn't seem to matter what it is or what it looks like,  It's new therefore it is awesome.  

No. 

I'll say what we're all thinking, this is a terrible color.  It's ugly and isn't appropriate for fashion of any kind.  There, I said it.

This gorgeous little ring is just right for ring or pinky fingers.  Genuine raw Turquoise has been hand set in a handmade Sterling Silver setting.  Would make a fabulous December Birthday Gift.

US Size 6-6.5, Sterling Silver Ring Stock and twisted accents have been hand forged in to a ring setting and finished with a 6mm raw genuine Turquoise gemstone cabochon.

Sterling Silver and Genuine Turquoise Gemstone Cross

21" total length, the Sterling Silver cross is 1 x 3/4" at widest point, this pretty little cross is hand forged from start to finish. Cut from a Sterling Silver sheet and hand stamped with an arrow like design for a Southwestern appeal. Hand cleaned and polished. Some of the tool marks are visible on the back along with the "Sterling" mark. Hand set with a genuine Turquoise cabochon and matching beads along the chain.

The chain is Sterling Silver 1.5mm Fine Figaro pattern and finished with a Sterling Silver Lobster Claw Clasp.
