Grim Reader Poppet by Lisa Snellings

Poppet visits October. After all, October is a state of mind.

There she finds Grim Reading.

Grim comes with a tiny hand made scythe. Grim is about as October as a Poppet can be.

Grim Reading is cold cast marble, is about 2 inches tall and hand painted and signed by the artist.

Even scary Poppets are made with love.

From: Squid Pro Quo Shop

Huge Giant Squid Plush/Body Pillow

**As seen on The Rachel Maddow Show!**

This enormous cutie is made just for you to adore, he is so soft and huggable you could even use him as a body pillow! He is the perfect addition to any nautical-themed playroom or nursery. You don't even have to be a kid to want to cuddle up to one of these, even adults find him irresistible to touch and play with! And, at 7 feet long, from the top of his fins to the tip of his two long arms, boy what a conversation piece he is!

This big buy can be made in just about any color combination. Just select your color preference before checkout! If there is a color combo you don't see simply select "custom color" and put it in the notes and I will be happy to accommodate you. Also, I always use a sucker side fabric with some sort of dot or circle pattern so the underside of the tentacles looks like suckers.

Your giant squid plush can be made with plain eyes, cute anime eyes as shown in the last photo of the pink squid, or with one giant eye in the front like the red squid in the fourth photo. At this time Etsy only allows for 2 drop down variations, so please list your eye style preference in the "Notes to Seller" area at checkout, thanks! If you do not list a preference I will give your squid the plain eye style.

Please allow 2 to 3 weeks for the making of your amazing giant squid plush as he is quite large and takes some time to complete. As always, my creations come from a smoke and pet odor free home.

Do not be alarmed at the seemingly small size of the shipping box! The bulk of these guys is mostly stuffing, so I curl them up into a 12"x12"x12" box to save you money on shipping!

Five Great Gifts For Giving - List J 2016

Good Morning,

Today and every Tuesday, we list five unique gifts from five unique shops around the web or your favorite Shopping sites.  Today's list comes from the neat folks of Etsy.

From: Sue's Arts

Hamsa Wall Hang Charm, Hanging Hamsa wall charm, hamsa, wall hamsa, home decor, wall decor, evil eye charm, house gift, home gift

Beautiful, unique and one of a kind all handmade hanging wall Hamsa.

Made out of stone.

Approx size:

Fish: 1" x 21/2"
Hamsa: 5" x 3"
Total length: 83/4"

The Hamsa as a home or business decor piece hung on a wall is a very common ornament in many Middle Eastern countries.

The Hamsa is believed to protect and shield against the evil eye and the envious eye of strangers.

It is also believed to create positive energy, happiness, prosperity and good health which makes it the perfect gift idea..

The Hamsa is a symbol that has been around for thousands of years with its many names Hamsa, Hamsa Hand (Arabic), Chamsa, Hand of God, Hand of Fatima, Hand of Miriam, Hamesh Hand (Hebrew) to name just a few - the meaning is for the most part the same, the five digits of the human hand protecting the user.

To a certain extent folklore and superstition are behind the Hamsa's popularity and for the most part it has nothing to do with the official Jewish religion.

Cat art print, Archival 8 x 10" Print of acrylic cat painting, Cat decor, Black cat, Whimsical cat art collage, Whimsical bird, Funny bird

This whimsical 8 x 10" cat and bird art print is an archival reproduction of my original acrylic collage titled "Herman gets his feet wet. (But Stanley comes prepared)"

I printed it on archival Epson Velvet Fine Art paper using archival inks.
The paper is 100% cotton fiber and is textured matte.

It has a small white border that can be trimmed if you'd like. Please indicate in "note to seller" when ordering. The image measures 8 x 10" without the border. The paper is 8 1/2 x 11".

I left it unframed and unmatted so you can match colors to your decor, but you can get an idea of what it might look like matted and framed by viewing the photos above.

Broken cut China Mosaic Cake Dome handmade w Glass Pedestal Cake Stand

Handmade Mosaic Cake Dome with Glass Pedestal Cake Stand. The Mosaic is created from cut, vintage china plate rims, combined with colored matching stained glass. I switched the old wooden knob out to a pretty Green Knob and placed some handmade clay roses in a strategic spot. The Mosaic is grouted and sealed, the cake dome server surrounded by clear pearls at the edge. This was a vintage Aluminum cake dome, which no one uses anymore. But look at me now, it says! Fully usable, and all pretty in greens, dark reds and complimenting colors. Cake Cover Measurements: 11 x 4.5" Glass Pedestal cake stand: 12.75 x 4.88" Generously sized, enjoy and thank you for looking.

Handmade Mosaic Wall Art Washboard Design bright yellow glitter mosaic

Wall Art Vintage redesigned Mosaic Washboard, handmade broken china mosaic in yellows, lavenders, purples. The mosaic is done with cut, broken china plate rims, mixed with some glitter tiles and stained glass. Sanded, primed, painted and distressed... Grouted in Antique White, a row of lavender pearls surround the Mosaic and it is sure ready for hanging in any room you chose too. Every lil cut Mosaic Piece I placed with utter loving care so as to preserve some of the patterns of the Vintage China Plate Rims. One small piece at a time, utterly time consuming, but I love what I do. Fit for Laundry, kitchen, garden patio, and any other corner you wish to brighten up a bit. Thank you for looking.

These have got to be my favorite pieces in her shop.  Wonderfully unique and  original, perfect for the Musician in your home.

Handmade Shabby Chic Mosaic Violin broken cut china plate mosaic violin

Have the Blue's.....not with this beauty....an unplayable violin transformed via fresh primer and paint in off white, a bit distressed for the shabby, worn look, a handmade Mosaic into a beautiful gift for a music protégé, wall art, table center piece, so many occasion to use this beauty... This violin is meticulously mosaic-ed with the most beautiful, hand cut china plate rim mosaic tiles. Cascading lush blooms and roses on some of my favorite vintage bone china/porcelain dinner and breakfast plates were cut into a very beautiful mosaic tesserae to cover this violin; The hour glass "waist line" on this violin is embellished with a focal and surrounding tiles. The violin is filled in with white, all kinds of blue's, even glitter tiles and some pale pink stained Glass tiles. Every lil cut Mosaic Piece I placed with utter loving care so as to preserve some of the patterns of the Vintage China Plate Rims. One small piece at a time, utterly time consuming, but I love what I do. All china plates used here are in very subtle shades. The strings on this beautiful art piece are a set of ivory pearls. The tail piece is accented with handmade clay roses and some bling. This is a gift that everyone likes to receive, music lover and others alike. I finished this violin with a very light antique white colored grout to give it even more charm and a finished look. This vintage violin was rescued from a thrift store, unplayable, it's curtain calls long gone...but - finally! For a festive center piece and those spots that need a little shining, a dazzling handmade mosaic has been applied to this violin. A master piece transcended...what a gift for the right person. Thank you for looking.

What's New In The Studio?

Good Morning,

Today is usually reserved for new studio items and creations.  However with my plate overflowing with things to do and  places to go in preparation for the Harvest Market,  I have not had an opportunity to be creative.

Today we change that.

I saw someone's interesting art project, and it got me to thinking about how to make my own, only different.  Sometime ago I discussed a cool modeling and sculpting medium called Apoxie Sculpt.  This two part epoxy medium comes in a variety of colors and lends itself well to a variety of applications, sculpting, model fabrication, repair and other uses.

The sample pack I received is still full of wonderful colors and I have a neat idea, probably more difficult in the execution than in the planning and blue-prints in my head.

It takes a while for the material to be ready for use.  After mixing the two parts together waiting for thirty to forty-five minutes is required.  The material is SUPER STICKY and will stick to anything you place it on, waiting the allotted time lets the material set and makes it a bit easier to work with.  We highly recommend using  gloves as the color tends to come off on your hands.

It is also very versatile, you can shape it, cut it, paint it, sand it and adhere it to things you want to decorate or create a unique piece entirely out of Apoxie Sculpt.  Which is what I intend to do, some wire, a wood base and I am good to go!

Example of shaped, textured, painted and sanded Apoxie Sculpt Pendant

We may from time to time pop in with progress pictures this is not an art project that can be finished in a day, but I am excited about the possibilities of what it might morph in to when it is complete.

What are we making?  That is a surprise.

Thank you for stopping in and having a look.

The Alchemists Vessel would like to wish you a pleasant day.

Studio News - I Have A Dream

Good Morning,

Today we have a brief news blip and then it is back to work work work!

Last Saturday, I received the keys to the building I have rented for Little Shop of Artists.  The Keys to My Dream as it were.  There is something amazing about  receiving keys, whether they be to your very own first apartment, house, or business; new keys seem to sing of things to come and promise so much just by sitting in your hand.

I am very excited and elated.  We also toured the building with one of the Participating Artists, who is ready to move in soon.

There are two weeks ahead of us, and the artists are looking forward to setting up their displays in the store.

Many things have changed, and a lot of that is due to the interior space.  Boutique like in its set up, individual artists will be easy to find.  Friendly, knowledgeable staff will be available to assist customers and clients with measurements, trying on jewelry, and special order or purchase unique one of a kind items that may be customized, ordered through the shop or Individual Artists Websites.

We are looking forward to opening the doors July 01, 2013, that's a Monday! Information, times and actual dates will be forthcoming.

We hope you'll stop by for a visit, and maybe those gift giving needs as well.

Thank you for stopping in and having a look.

The Alchemists Vessel would like to wish you a pleasant day.
