New In The Studio: Sheet Maille Weave

Hello,

Today I would like share a little about a new weave that will be available shortly in the shop.

Originally called GSG or Great Southern Gathering created by "buddha", the name has been changed to Half Persian 3 Sheet 6 in 1, a variant of the Half Persian 3-in-1 Chain.  More information is available on M.A.I.L. by clicking the link.

This weave is not difficult, but like many, there are those that give me trouble from time to time, this was one.  I enjoy making short lengths of a weave in different ring sizes for comparison and design ideas.  Shown below are samples of what I have been learning.

This weave would make a great bracelet, necklace or perhaps a decorative piece of art.

Candace is so crazy about Candy Corn that after I fashion her tiny face she begs me to dress her entirely in Candy Corn Fabric! I add her ears and a black bow with a pearl. I make very sure that I add the tiny red felt heart on her right foot that signifies that she is a Heartfelt Mouse?1981. Then I give her a nice long tail. You would think that Candace would have to see her dentist a LOT. But no....perfect little teeth. She holds a teenie tiny plate with three, count them THREE hand molded Candy Corns. A mother can only do so much. She gets straight A's, always does her chores, is the first one dressed for church on Sunday...but she is addicted to Candy Corn. Candace will come to you in her specially sized crush-proof box.

Otherwise, we can always change a color for you or create a custom design to your liking, just send us a message and we'll make something special just for you.

Shop News: Etsy To Remove Treasury Feature

Today's blog is very brief.  The link below will take the reader to an Etsy blog post.  Etsy has decided to remove the Treasury feature from the site.  All though current treasuries will remain up, no new treasuries will be allowed after October 5, 2016.

Changes To This Blog By Google

Good Morning,

Tuesdays are usually reserved for Five Great Gifts ides, but today I want to share some information about the changes Google will make to the blog, which are out of my control.

Note/Message Box from Google: 

"By September 29, 2016, the Search Box gadget on this blog will only present search results from this blog. Search results from pages linked in your posts, from the Web or from the Blog List and Link List gadgets will not be presented anymore.

 

We recently announced that the Google Feed API would be retired. As a result, the Slideshow gadget will no longer function, and we will remove it from your blog by September 29, 2016."

 

What does this mean for this blog?  I don't know. I do not think I have Widgets or Gadgets installed on this blog as they describe above, but I will be in the process of making sure that external links, and shared links remain accessible.

The slide show gadget no longer being available is disappointing, but there can only be so much room on a server to support such things.  So it will be missed.

The Alchemists Vessel hopes that you will continue to pop in to the blog from time to time and see what we're sharing, creating and selling.

New In The Studio- Whirlybirds

Good Morning,

Last week I taught myself how to make a fun piece of Maille called a whirlybird.  These little circles are crafted from Jewelry grade Bright and Anodized Aluminum, and come in a variety of colors and combinations.   In the process of listing them in the shops, we also take requests for favorite colors, team colors or themes.  Available with or without a center bead.

Gold inner and Silver outer rings make this pretty little "Sun Disk".  Accented with a matching glass bead.

 Yellow inner and outer rings create this lovely "Sunflower", accented with a center glass bead.

 Yellow inner and Black Outer rings make for an alternative,"Batman", "Bumblebee", Hufflepuff, or Wolverine pendant. 

 Silver and Purple rings in reverse.

 Available in a variety of colorways, Turquoise inner rings and Silver outer rings, Whirlybirds will be woven in this fashion, unless otherwise requested.
