Bead It Forward Project 2015

Good Morning,

Today I would like to share a unique and interesting way to help a  cause.  Reading the Fire Mountain White Sale catalog I came across this fantastic and fun project.  The Article is very long and may be found in the printed catalog, which I cannot find on line.

Bead it Forward Quilt - this project started in 2006 and has continued each year, with a new theme, but the same goal to raise money and research Breast Cancer Research / Cure.

 This years project is focused on Animals - "Wild About Finding a Cure".

The "Priscilla" collar was handcrafted from an up-cycled men's necktie. Each year thousand of neckties are abandoned to the back of the closet. The lucky ones are rescued to become Sit To Be Tied dog collars.

Not all dog collars are made the same. Our collars are not only fashionable but durable as well. We use strong heavy nylon webbing with a high tensile strength and welded D-rings. All stress points are double triple-stitched with bonded nylon thread using an industrial sewing machine. We use all metal, zinc die cast contoured side release buckles for comfort and strength.

Fall Fashion 2014

Good Morning,

Autumn is right around the corner and this morning we take a brief look at what's new for the Fall Fashion season.

Color:  Color is important, even if it's a soft neutral beige, colors can change your mood, brighten a room, or make one feel  empowered or energized.

This years colors are deep rich jewel tones in greens, blues and purples.  Radiant Orchid was Pantone's color of the year, for Fall they have accented and matched it with more earthy tones.

This Fall's doos are all about the braid.   There are some very neat ways to braid your hair, and lots and lots of how to's on line.

Accessories are a great way to add that fashionable pop of color if you don't want to commit to a loud jacket or bright dress.

Terataspis grandis was one of the largest (and spiniest) trilobites. He lived in the Devonian period and grew to about two feet, far overshadowing most trilobites that reached two to six inches.

This original paper sculpture is created from colored and textured specialty papers. The papers are cut flat, then shaped and layered into a low relief collage. The three dimensional nature of the work captures light throughout the day for an everchanging experience!

Moose Art Print, 8 x 10 inches of my original wall hanging. The original painting was made from a piece of cedar wood that I cut with a saw and sanded down by hand to get a nice soft feel and texture to paint on. I painted using acrylic paint and around the sides and back were created with a wood stain. I also wood burned into parts of the painting to give it more texture and accentuate parts of the painting.

Today we have switched up the blog a little bit and will begin the week with a wonderful and multifaceted Artists Larissa and Erick, a husband and wife creative duo.

We do not use any pre-made bases, but make all of our products ourselves, from our own recipes, with our own four hands, in small batches. Lilac is my very favorite flower, the one I was most happy to be able to carry in my wedding bouquet.  There's just nothing else like it, and it's been captured in these gorgeous floral candles.  Each candle is two layers, two of the colors of lilacs, but the scent runs all the way through, beginning to end.

My Daffy the Dinosaur, who loves to snuggle, is just chomping at the bit to come home with you and become a companion for you child, as well as a stylish accessory.
You won't find anything like him anywhere else in the world, as he's entirely my design, and with him, your child will be the coolest kid on the block.  Entirely hand-knitted and sewn of washable wool that won't felt, I've made him with a bottom jaw to give him teeth and make him a toy as well as a soft, warm scarf.
Please note that although he did try to eat my head while photographing him, he was just hungry and untrained, not vicious.  We've since discovered that his favorite food is yarn, so he's quite safe to be around children.

Hot Pink Lily Photograph

 
 
This photograph is of a beautiful hot pink lily that was in my own yard in New Jersey. It was taken on a beautiful sunny day in July of 2010, in Wood-Ridge.  These flowers are so gorgeous and sophisticated.
