Today I would like to share five unique gift ideas from five unique shops.

Two Dragon Large Copper Ring with Amber and Silver Accents

This large saddle-style ring is an attention getter.

One of my favorite books as a child was "The Crystal Cave" by Mary Stewart.  The design of this ring was inspired by the part where young Merlin has a vision of the two dragons battling for power.

I added a bezel set Amber stone in the center and two fine silver embellishments at the tail of each dragon.

The band has my maker's mark and a leaf imprint in sterling silver.

The band on this ring is a smidge over 3/8ths of an inch wide.  That's very important when it comes to sizing because most people "size" their fingers for rings with very slender bands.  The part of your finger between the knuckle and the bottom of your finger is fattier than where narrow rings rest.  So please have THAT part of your finger measured for size.

The interior measurement of this ring is approximately size 9 and it JUST fits on my finger that is a size 8.

The ring cannot be sized up or down.

Wolf Skull Necklace with Tribal Design - Bronze, on Leather

 My Wolf Skull. Got teeth?

It is with a broad smile and no small flourish that I present my newest skull, the Gray Wolf. I've loved the wolf for as long as I can remember and it was no small feat to do this incredible creature the justice I felt it deserves. This wolf skull is meticulously detailed right down to its infamous teeth in those powerful jaws, and from every angle it looks stunning. The top of the skull is detailed with a Lost Apostle tribal motif to add to the strength and individualism of this piece, and I think it really adds to the spirit of the skull.

It measures 35mm from its canines to the back of the skull, 18mm wide across the eye orbits and about 20mm from the base of the jaw to the top of the skull. It's a fantastic size for, quite honestly, an awesome pendant. This skull is hung on approximately 1 meter of the finest Spanish brown leather, and also come with an all-original Lost Apostle bronze clasp. Completely hand carved, this skull was then cast in the finest jewelers bronze. A patina was then applied to bring out all the fine detailing covering the skull and finally it was carefully polished to bring out the warmth and lustre of the bronze. As with all our jewelry, there's no need to worry about it tarnishing as all our pieces are protected to maintain the shine.

Studio News and an Item or Two

Good Morning,

I have been debating this post for a while and haven't quite figured it all out myself yet.

On October 18, 2014,  I had a heart attack.  I spent three days at Saint Alphonsus Hospital (St. Al's) here in Boise.  I had two stents implanted and have a year-long road to recovery ahead of me. 

For the next couple of months I will be focusing on my health and attending the appointments the Doctors have set for me.  This makes my schedule erratic on the best of days.

Maille Mania - New Items from The Alchemists Vessel

Good Morning,

Today I would like to share with you new items made from the new material I have the pleasure of keeping in inventory.  Not only will you see some favorite designs but some new ones as well. 

All these items have been hand crafted from 14Kt Gold-plated and Silver-plated (over brass) jump rings.  You can have the look of luxury without the cost.

This lovely weave is called "Viperscale".  Creating the bracelet with contrasting metals makes the pattern pop, and lends an elegant and classic sophisticated look to these beautiful metal ribbons.

Eos - Viperscale Chainmaille Bracelet

Guinevere Chainmaille Necklace New Item

Good Morning,

Monday is here, the work week is ahead, and there are five days to get it all right.  Due to a personal situation the blog will be short and not very detailed for these next couple of weeks.  Sometimes you get so busy taking care of business that you forget to take care of yourself, and that can cause down time for the artist.

This morning's item is very pretty and rather neat.   Available on Etsy: Guinevere.

The chain is woven in two patterns Round and Inverted Round Maille weaves.  Genuine Australian Green Jasper beads are secreted in the chain and accent the main focal point of the necklace.  Silver Rings are also tucked here and there to add stability and another design element the piece.

Most Maille pieces will lay flat, this one has some dimension to it, as the Round Maille weave actually "stands-up" when the piece is worn, giving it a unique and very pretty lace-like look.

Detail can be seen here, a Green Jasper bead has been tucked inside the chain, just a couple of links below are silver rings, captured in the weave.

Detail of focal point, the genuine Jasper beads are a lovely greenish-blue with deeper green inclusions across the surface of the stone.  These are very pretty and may be mistaken for turquoise on occasion. 

 18-1/2" total length, the piece rests just along the decolletage (decollete) making an attractive collar to jazz up that stuffy Professional Office attire or a dazzling accessory for Date Night.  Also appropriate for period costumes, film, stage and event attire.

New Weave Item - Checkered Past

Good Morning,

I hope everyone had a restful and rejuvenating weekend.

This morning's blog is short and to the point.  New Bracelet now available at handmadeartists.com.

This pretty weave follows the Japanese 4-in-1 pattern.  Accented with pretty Aquamarine Czech Glass beads that alternate along the length of chain.  The finished chain resembles a ladder or checkerboard pattern of little square links.

New Shop Department - Hardwear

Good Morning,

Monday is here and I hope everyone had a lovely Easter Weekend.

The creative process, at times, can be full of inspiration and wonder, at other times it seems to come from whatever is at hand.

This weekend there was a lot of waiting for things to cure and cool. So what's a girl to do during down time?  Poke around in the garage and see what falls off a shelf.  I have had a repair kit full of nuts, bolts, screws, washers, hardware for quite a while.  Sorting through it, I began to see potential there.  

A jump ring here, a hexagonal nut there, a washer do-dad and viola!  I had a pair of earrings.

Hexes and Os Hardware Earrings

Product Details:

Yes, you read that right, these are made out of hardware.  Hanging at 1-1/2" long from the earlobe, tiny Hexagonal nuts are linked together and end in a Washer charm.  Perfect for a little something to brighten up that boring office suit, a fun date night accessory, or terrific for Steampunk Fashionistas, Bikers and Rocker Babes!  Plus what a surprise when people "WOW!" at the fact that they are made out of hardware.  Light weight and comfortable enough to wear all day.  You won't even know you have them on.  These are truly a unique pair of earrings.
Hexoginal nuts and washers are brand new from the package and have never bee used in any machinery, tool, equipment or other construction.  Hand washed in amonia and dish-soap, hand sanded to remove any and all sharp edges, tumble polished for a great shine and hand assembled with hand spun, and cut silver plated jump rings.
