Bead It Forward Project 2015

Good Morning,

Today I would like to share a unique and interesting way to help a  cause.  Reading the Fire Mountain White Sale catalog I came across this fantastic and fun project.  The Article is very long and may be found in the printed catalog, which I cannot find on line.

Bead it Forward Quilt - this project started in 2006 and has continued each year, with a new theme, but the same goal to raise money and research Breast Cancer Research / Cure.

 This years project is focused on Animals - "Wild About Finding a Cure".

Artist Submitted Square

If you would like to participate / submitting a square, please visit the website (link below) for more details.  Squares are due March 06, 2015, and should measure, 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" or 3.8cm x 3.8cm.

Sterling Silver and Genuine Turquoise Gemstone Hand Stamped Cross

 21" total length, the Sterling Silver cross is 1 x 3/4" at widest point, this pretty little cross is hand forged from start to finish. Cut from a Sterling Silver sheet and hand stamped with an arrow like design for a Southwestern appeal. Hand cleaned and polished. Some of the tool marks are visible on the back along with the "Sterling" mark. Hand set with a genuine Turquoise cabochon and matching beads along the chain.

The chain is Sterling Silver 1.5mm Fine Figaro pattern and finished with a Sterling Silver Lobster Claw Clasp.

Arrives boxed ready for gift giving.

Miss Pink Funny Bunny is ready to bring joy and fun to your child.  Isn't she cute with that pretty dress highlighted with smiling sun buttons and yellow trim?  Any little girl would love to call her their own, for play time, tea time, or cuddle time.  (If your child would prefer, I would be happy to create a funny bunny in their favorite color.
Miss Bunny measures 8" high, so she is a great size to carry everywhere.  All the buttons are sewn on by hand, and the dress is removeable, but I do not recommend this toy for children under 3 years of age.
The pattern for this bunny is from the book "Mr. Funky's super crochet wonderful" of North Light Books and was found on the Lion Brand Yarn website.  The bunny is made from 100% acrylic fun yarn and fiberfill stuffing.

V is for Vacation

Good Morning,

Today we change things up a bit.  The Blog Ring's featured theme is Vacation.  I think after this week I am going to need one, but won't ever get one again!  We are almost a week away from opening Little Shop of Artists, and I for one and very excited and looking forward to the first day of work.

Vacation, fun in the sun!  Lazy days with family and friends, time to relax, put your feet up and do things at a snail's pace, no need to hurry.  And it is almost impossible to hurry in my favorite Summer Vacation accessory, the Flip Flop!  And you won't find any cuter than the one's my friend Debbi at handmadeartists.com makes.

Fossil Coral in Silver and Gold NE65

Nature inspires me every time I look out the window. This Fossil coral pendant reminds me of the wealth the earth has to offer. So silver and gold seemed to be the colors calling it.
The fossil coral is 1 1/4 inches long by 7/8 inchs wide. It is suspended from a chain of Silver and gold  glass seed beads that is 28 inches long with a toggle clasp.

Happy Friday,

The weekend is here, and I am looking forward to it.

Today I wanted to share the upcoming classes that are available through Jo-Ann Fabric and Crafts Store, here in Boise, ID. Located at 1085 N. Milwaukee, (208) 323-5373.  Jewelry classes are taught in the downstairs classroom.  (Across the street from Home Depot). 

February's Classes are still available and range from $30.00 to $35.00 per person.  Two hour sessions are offered, and include; instruction, a field trip through the store, a ten minute break, and time for questions, plus you get a lovely handmade project to take home with you.

Like Swarovski Crystal elements, but don't like the retail price?  Jo-Ann's has lots of glass bead alternatives that come in the right sizes and look just as pretty in your finished piece.

This month as well as next, classes feature Swarovski Crystals elements in 6mm Bi-cone shaped beads.

Jewelry Basics is not required to take any of the project classes.  If you would like to try it without committing to an entire project, the 2-1/2 session includes, an overview of Tools and Techniques, a field trip through the store, and a completed project to take home at the end of class.  *Some tools are provided during class time.  We ask students arrive with two pairs of pliers and material to complete the class.  If you would like to wait until class time to purchase your project needs that is also fine.  We'll even ring you up at the counter right next to the classroom.

Jewelry 101 - 2-1/2 hr. Session - $35.00 This class is offered every month.

These projects vary by month, but beginning, intermediate and advanced classes are offered every month.

This morning, it is my pleasure to share with you another wonderful artist team from Handmade Artists.

Welcome to Cornville!  That's right, this dynamic duo lives in Cornville AZ, just outside Sedona.  Debbi and John own the shop Thunder Rose Leather, they have been working with beads and buckskin for over twenty years, and create beautiful, useful, and functional pieces from your not-so-average women's purse to flute bags and baby moccasins.

Simply gorgeous, this Bohemian Gypsy Handbag with Fringe.  I just love the natural color and the little beaded turtle totem is too much.
